The inaugural Aerospace Structural Impact Dynamics International Conference was held from Nov. 6-7, 2012 at the NCAT facility in Wichita, Kansas with a total of 41 technical papers presented during the conference.<\/strong><\/p>\n

One hundred and forty one attendees from fourteen countries participated in this event<\/span> (16 representatives from government agencies, 16 from academic institutions, 36 from R&D centers, 37 from aircraft suppliers, 27 from aircraft OEM\u2019s, and 9 from software suppliers). The conference included among its participants representatives from key regulatory agencies (FAA, EASA), aerospace companies (Airbus, Boeing, Cessna, Embraer, Eurocopter, Gulfstream, Hawker Beechcraft, and Kestrel Aircraft), as well as prominent research institutions (DLR, JAXA, NASA, NIAR, and Southwest Research Institute).<\/p>\n

This synthesis of government, research, academia and private industry contributed to the success of the inaugural edition of the ASIDI Conference, and it substantiates the need for a platform such as this to help bring its participants together towards further and closer contributions.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The conference\u2019s technical program was arranged in a sequential format instead of the traditional parallel session format in order to provide all attendees with a good overview of state-of-the-art experimental and analytical techniques, as well as an overview of present and future FAA and EASA regulatory requirements. Mr. Matthew Melis’ unique presentation on the \u201cContributions of Impact Testing and Analysis to the Space Shuttle Columbia Accident Investigation and Return to Flight\u201d was the highlight during\u00a0 the conference\u2019s reception dinner held at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center.<\/p>\n

2012 Conference Invitation<\/h2>\n

The inaugural\u00a0Aerospace Structural Impact Dynamics International Conference<\/strong>\u00a0is being held on\u00a0November 6th and 7th 2012 at the National Center for Aviation Training (NCAT) located in Wichita<\/strong>, \u00a0 to provide a forum for researchers, regulatory agencies and industry professionals to present and discuss the latest aerospace crashworthiness regulations, structural impact dynamics computational & experimental techniques, technologies and research.\u00a0The conference organizing and scientific\u00a0committee is formed by senior personnel \u00a0from the National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR), DLR (German Aerospace Center), the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Airbus , The Boeing Company, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).<\/p>\n

Two workshops will be offered\u00a0following\u00a0the conference:<\/p>\n
