Hotels: All hotels in the EU have a set of criteria which they must adhere to as a minimum for each star rating. In Spain, each of the seventeen regions have their own hotel classification standards which are regulated by the government, however as a general rule, the star ratings are very similar between regions, and usually higher than the European standard.

Aparthotels: You also have the option of looking into aparthotels ( an aparthotel offers guests a hybrid-stay option in which, you get the service of a hotel with the space and comfort of an entire apartment). Aparthotels are very much an established option in Madrid with a great range of options to choose from.
